Change from $10 and $20: The Park Picnic
Today the girls take their lemonade to the Park Picnic, where Coach Nora’s soccer team is playing. Bigger orders mean customers pay with a $10 bill or a $20 bill, so the change gets bigger too.
Remember: Change = money paid โ price. For $10.00 โ $7.50, count up from the price: $0.50 makes $8.00, and $2.00 more makes $10.00, so the change is $2.50.
Magic trick: Make jumps: first jump to the next whole dollar, then jump to the amount paid. Add up your jumps, and that’s the change!
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Park Picnic and find:
- โฝ Find the soccer team. A back row of 3 and a front row of 3: 6 players.
- ๐ฅค Find the cups on the blanket. 3 rows of 3 = 9 cups. If the team’s order costs $6.00 and Coach Nora pays $10.00, her change is $4.00.
- โฝ Find the soccer balls. Count them: 3 soccer balls in a row.
- ๐ฑ Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
