Buying Several: The School Fair
The Lemonade Stand has a booth at the School Fair, next to balloons, cupcakes and face painting! When you buy several things that all cost the same, you can multiply the price by how many you buy.
Remember: Total = price ร how many. 3 cups at $0.50 each: 3 ร $0.50 = $1.50. Multiply the cents too: 3 ร 50 cents = 150 cents = $1.50.
Magic trick: Skip-count the price! For 4 cookies at $0.25, count $0.25, $0.50, $0.75, $1.00.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the School Fair and find:
- ๐ Find the balloons. There are 6 balloons. If each costs $1.25, 4 balloons cost 4 ร $1.25 = $5.00.
- ๐ง Find Chef Rosie’s cupcakes. Her tray holds 2 rows of 3 = 6 cupcakes. At $1.50 each, 2 cupcakes cost $3.00.
- ๐ฅค Find the cups of lemonade. There are 4 cups. At $0.50 each, 4 cups cost 4 ร $0.50 = $2.00.
- ๐ฑ Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
