Muscles and Moving: The Castle Dance Party

It’s party time in the ballroom of Rainbow Castle! Princess Ruby twirls, jumps and spins, and every move she makes comes from her muscles pulling on her bones.

Remember: You have more than 600 muscles. Muscles move your body by pulling on your bones; they can never push. So muscles work in pairs: one pulls to bend your arm, and another pulls to straighten it. Your heart is a muscle too, and it never stops working.

Magic trick: Bend your arm and feel the muscle on the front go hard: it is pulling! Now straighten it and feel the back of your arm take a turn.

Seek and Find

Look carefully at the picture of the Castle Dance Party and find:

  • ⭕ Find the 4 hula hoops. Your tummy muscles keep a hoop spinning.
  • 🥁 Find the 3 golden drums. Arm muscles pull to lift the drumsticks: boom!
  • 🎈 Find the 6 heart balloons. Your heart is a muscle too, and it beats faster when you dance.
  • 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
