Evaporation and Condensation: Laundry Day

It’s Laundry Day! The morning rain has stopped, the Sun is out, and Grandma Bea is pegging wet clothes on the line. Puddles shine on the path, and a cold glass of lemonade is getting drops on the outside.

Remember: Evaporation is liquid water turning into water vapor, an invisible gas that goes into the air. Warmth and wind make it faster. Condensation is water vapor cooling and turning back into tiny drops of liquid, like the drops on a cold glass, a foggy mirror or the morning dew.

Magic trick: Evaporation Escapes into the air; Condensation Comes back as drops on something Cold.

Seek and Find

Look carefully at the picture of Laundry Day and find:

  • ๐Ÿ‘• Find the 6 pieces of laundry on the line. The Sun and the breeze dry them by evaporation.
  • ๐Ÿ’ฆ Find the 3 puddles on the path. By the afternoon they will have evaporated into the air.
  • ๐Ÿฅค Find the 2 cold glasses with drops on the outside. Water vapor in the air touched the cold glass and turned into drops: condensation!
  • ๐Ÿฑ Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
