Clouds: The Cloud-Spotting Picnic

Lily and Hana have spread a picnic blanket on a grassy hilltop for the Cloud-Spotting Picnic! They lie back and look up: puffy clouds drift by low in the sky, and thin wispy ones float far above.

Remember: Clouds are made of tiny drops of water or bits of ice. Puffy cumulus clouds look like cotton balls on fair days. Flat grey stratus clouds cover the sky like a blanket. Thin, wispy cirrus clouds float very high and are made of ice crystals. Tall, dark cumulonimbus clouds are storm clouds that bring thunder and lightning. Fog is a cloud near the ground.

Magic trick: Cumulus is like Cotton, Stratus is Spread out like a sheet, and cIrrus is Icy and high.
