Start and End Times: The Train to Rainbow Castle
All aboard the Train to Rainbow Castle! The little train puffs past fields and hills all the way to Princess Ruby’s castle. Here we find when a trip ends, and when it must start to arrive on time.
Remember: To find the end time, add the time the trip takes to the start time. To find the start time, take away the time the trip takes from the end time. When the minutes reach 60, that’s a new hour: 1:40 + 30 minutes = 2:10.
Magic trick: Going forward in time? Add. Going backward to the start? Take away. Then check: start + trip time should give the end.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Train to Rainbow Castle and find:
- 🚂 Find the train with 4 carriages. If walking through each carriage takes 5 minutes, walking the whole train takes 20 minutes.
- 🎈 Find the 3 hot-air balloons. If the balloons take off at 9:00 and fly for 2 hours, they land at 11:00.
- 🐑 Find the 6 sheep in the field. 2 rows of 3 sheep make 6 sheep.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
