I'd and She'd: The Star Tower

Climb up to the Star Tower, Professor Luna Moon’s little observatory! Telescopes point at the sky, mugs of cocoa wait on a table, and a ringed planet shines through the window.

Remember: I’d can be a short way to say I would (“I’d love some cocoa”) or I had (“I’d never seen a comet before”). The same goes for you’d, he’d, she’d, we’d and they’d.

Magic trick: Look at the doing word that comes after it. A plain doing word like like, love or go means the hidden word is would. A done word like seen, finished or counted means the hidden word is had.

Seek and Find

Look carefully at the picture of the Star Tower and find:

  • 🔭 Find the 2 telescopes. “I’d love a turn!” Here I’d is a short way to say I would.
  • ☕ Find the 3 mugs of cocoa. They’d be even better with more marshmallows.
  • 🪐 Find the ringed planet in the window. Professor Luna Moon says she’d never seen it so bright!
  • 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
