Right Angles: The Craft Party

At the Craft Party, Millie and her friends make picture frames and greeting cards. The corner of every card is a perfect square corner, and a square corner has a special name: a right angle.

Remember: A right angle is a square corner, like the corner of a page (it measures 90 degrees). An angle smaller than a right angle is called acute (a cute little angle!). An angle bigger than a right angle is called obtuse. How long the lines are doesn’t matter: only how wide they open.

Magic trick: Fold a piece of paper in half and then in half again: the folded corner is a perfect right-angle tester. If it fits a corner exactly, that corner is a right angle.

Seek and Find

Look carefully at the picture of the Craft Party and find:

  • ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Find the square picture frames on the wall. Each frame has 4 right angles, so 4 frames have 4 ร— 4 = 16 right angles.
  • ๐Ÿ’Œ Find the greeting cards standing on the table. Each card is a rectangle with 4 square corners, so 5 cards have 5 ร— 4 = 20 right angles.
  • ๐Ÿฑ Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
