Read: Millie's Kitchen
Welcome to Millie’s Kitchen, where Grandma Bea keeps her best-loved recipe books. Today Millie wants to read a new recipe, just like the one she read yesterday!
Remember: read is spelled the same but said two ways. Read for now rhymes with seed: “I like to read at bedtime.” Read for the past rhymes with bed and sounds just like the word red: “Yesterday Millie read the whole recipe.”
Magic trick: Look for time words. Yesterday, last night or last week mean the past: read rhymes with bed. Today, now or will mean read rhymes with seed.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of Millie’s Kitchen and find:
- 📚 Find the 4 recipe books on the shelf. Grandma Bea loves to read them all.
- 🍎 Find the 3 red apples. Red sounds just like read in “Yesterday I read a book.”
- 🍪 Find the 6 cookies on the tray. 2 rows of 3 cookies make 6.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
