What Plants Need: Lily's Window Boxes
Lily grows flowers in window boxes under the sunny windows of her cottage. She knows exactly what her plants need to grow big and healthy.
Remember: Plants need light, water, air, room to grow and nutrients from the soil. Without light, a plant can’t make food. Too little water makes it droop, but too much can rot its roots.
Magic trick: Count a plant’s five needs on one hand: sun, water, air, room and soil.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of Lily’s window boxes and find:
- 🌸 Find the 4 window boxes. Each has 3 flowers, all getting lots of sunlight: 4 × 3 = 12 flowers.
- 🌱 Find the 6 tiny sprouts in clay pots. Each one has its own pot, so it has room to grow.
- 💧 Find the 2 big watering cans. Water helps plants grow, but not too much!
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
