Parts of a Plant: The Fairy Garden
Welcome to the Fairy Garden! The fairies have planted flowers in clear glass pots, so you can see every part of a plant, even the roots hiding in the soil.
Remember: Roots hold the plant in the ground and drink up water from the soil. The stem holds the plant up and carries water to the leaves. The leaves make the plant’s food from sunlight. The flower makes seeds for new plants.
Magic trick: Roots drink, stems lift, leaves cook and flowers make seeds: a plant works from the ground up.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Fairy Garden and find:
- ๐ชด Find the 3 glass pots. In each one, spot all four parts: roots in the soil, the stem, the leaves and the flower.
- ๐ Find the 5 toadstool houses. Fairies live in them, but toadstools are not plants: they are mushrooms!
- ๐ฟ Find the 4 little watering cans. The water goes on the soil, where the roots can drink it.
- ๐ฑ Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
