Seeds and Sprouting: Farmer Daisy's Greenhouse
Inside Farmer Daisy’s Greenhouse it is warm and cozy, and seeds are waking up everywhere: bean seeds in glass jars and tiny sprouts in seed trays.
Remember: A seed holds a tiny baby plant and food for it, wrapped in a tough seed coat. To sprout, a seed needs water, warmth and air. When a seed starts to grow it is called germination, and the root comes out first.
Magic trick: A seed is a baby plant in a lunchbox: the seed coat is the box, and the stored food is its lunch.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of Farmer Daisy’s greenhouse and find:
- ๐ซ Find the 5 glass jars. Each bean has a white root growing down and a little green shoot growing up.
- ๐ฑ Find the seed tray with 2 rows of 4. 2 ร 4 = 8 sprouts, each with 2 round seed leaves.
- ๐งบ Find the 3 sacks of seeds. Every seed is a baby plant, waiting for water and warmth.
- ๐ฑ Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
