Millie & Biscuit

Factors: Millie's Kitchen

Welcome to Millie’s Kitchen! Grandma Bea has baked cookies and picked strawberries, and she wants to share them onto plates with none left over. Every way that works shows a pair of factors.

Remember: Factors are numbers that multiply to make a number. 3 ร— 4 = 12, so 3 and 4 are factors of 12. The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12. A factor shares the number out with none left over.

Magic trick: Find factors in pairs: start with 1 ร— 12, then 2 ร— 6, then 3 ร— 4. When the pairs meet in the middle, you’ve found them all!

Seek and Find

Look carefully at the picture of Millie’s Kitchen and find:

  • ๐Ÿช Find the tray of cookies. 3 rows of 4 = 12 cookies, so 3 and 4 are factors of 12.
  • ๐Ÿ“ Find the plates of strawberries. 2 plates of 6 = 12 strawberries, so 2 and 6 are factors of 12 too.
  • โ˜• Find the mugs on the shelf. Count them: 4 mugs.
  • ๐Ÿฑ Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
