By, Buy and Bye: The Lemonade Stand
Welcome to the Lemonade Stand, where Zoe and Mia are selling cold lemonade! Three friends wait in line to buy a cup, a girl on a bike rides by, and another girl waves bye on her way home.
Remember: To buy is to pay money to get something: “Cindy wants to buy a lemonade.” By means next to, or going past, or who did it: “The stand is by the tree.” “A bike rides by.” Bye is a short way to say goodbye: “Bye, see you tomorrow!”
Magic trick: Buy has a u, like you: you buy things with your money. Bye is short for goodbye, so it keeps the e at the end. By is the shortest of all: just b and y.
