Grams: The Cookie Dough
Cookie time! Grandma Bea weighs everything on her kitchen scale. A scale measures how heavy something is in grams (g). A gram is very light: a paper clip weighs about 1 g.
Remember: Weights of food are measured in grams, written g. Add and take away grams like any numbers, and keep the g on your answer: 200 g + 100 g = 300 g.
Magic trick: Put more on the scale and the grams go UP. Take something off and the grams go DOWN.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Cookie Dough and find:
- 🍪 Find the tray of cookie dough. 2 rows of 4: 8 dough balls. If each weighs 25 g, the tray holds 8 × 25 = 200 g of dough.
- 🥚 Find the bowl of eggs. There are 4 eggs. If each egg weighs 50 g, they weigh 200 g together.
- 🫙 Find the jars. There are 3 jars for the sugar, chocolate chips and oats.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
