Quiet and Quite: The Star Tower
Welcome to the Star Tower at night! Professor Luna Moon is looking at the stars, lanterns glow on the balcony, and a family of baby owls is fast asleep, so everyone must be very quiet.
Remember: Quiet has two beats and means with very little noise: “Please be quiet, the owls are asleep.” Quite has one beat and means very or really: “The night is quite cold.”
Magic trick: Quite rhymes with kite and bite, and it ends with an e, just like them. Quiet is the longer word, like a long, soft “shh”: say it slowly and you hear two beats.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Star Tower at night and find:
- 🦉 Find the 4 baby owls. They are asleep, so be very quiet!
- 🏮 Find the 5 lanterns. They glow quite brightly on the balcony.
- 🔭 Find the 3 small telescopes on the grass. Professor Luna Moon has a big one too.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
