Dessert and Desert: Millie's Kitchen
Welcome to Millie’s Kitchen! Grandma Bea has baked a tray of cupcakes for dessert, three little cactus plants sit on the windowsill, and a painting of a sandy desert with camels hangs on the wall.
Remember: Dessert (two s’s) is the sweet treat after a meal: “We had cherry pie for dessert.” Desert (one s) is a hot, dry, sandy place where it hardly ever rains: “Camels can walk across the desert.”
Magic trick: Dessert has two s’s for sweet stuff, and because you always want seconds! The desert is so dry that it only has room for one s.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of Millie’s Kitchen and find:
- 🧁 Find the 6 cupcakes. Grandma Bea made them for dessert.
- 🌵 Find the 3 cactus plants. Cactus plants grow in the desert, where it hardly ever rains.
- 🐪 Find the 2 camels in the desert painting. Camels can go for days without water.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
