Millie & Biscuit

See-Through or Not: Millie's Kitchen

The morning Sun pours into Millie’s Kitchen, where Grandma Bea is sorting her shelves: clear glass jars full of candies, cloudy frosted jars and shiny copper pots.

Remember: Transparent things let almost all light through, so you see clearly through them (a clear glass jar, a window). Translucent things let some light through, but everything looks blurry (frosted glass, wax paper, tissue paper). Opaque things let no light through (wood, metal, a book), and they make the darkest shadows.

Magic trick: Transparent = Totally see-through. Translucent = a little light. Opaque = Off, no light at all.

Seek and Find

Look carefully at the picture of Millie’s Kitchen and find:

  • 🫙 Find the 3 clear jars. They are transparent: you can see every candy inside.
  • 🌫️ Find the 2 frosted jars. They are translucent: some light gets through, but the inside looks blurry.
  • 🍲 Find the 4 copper pots. They are opaque: no light gets through metal.
  • 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
