Pictographs: The Bunny Farm Market
At the Bunny Farm Market, Farmer Daisy shows what she sold on a big wooden pictograph board: rows of little pictures of carrots, apples and eggs. Each picture can stand for more than one thing!
Remember: A pictograph uses pictures to show data. The key tells how many each picture stands for. If each carrot picture means 2 carrots, 4 pictures mean 8 carrots.
Magic trick: Read the key first! Then count the pictures by the key: by 2s, 5s or 10s. Half a picture is half the key.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Bunny Farm Market and find:
- 🥕 Find the pictograph board. The carrot row has 4 carrot pictures. If each picture means 2 carrots, that’s 4 × 2 = 8 carrots.
- 🍎 Find the apple row. It has 3 apple pictures, one fewer than the carrots.
- 🎃 Find the pumpkins on the stall. Count them: 3 pumpkins.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
