Weather and Whether, Flea and Flee: Rainbow Castle

Welcome to Rainbow Castle on a windy day! The weather is changing: a dark rain cloud is rolling in, three ducks flee to the castle door, and Princess Ruby’s puppy scratches at a tiny flea. Will it rain? Princess Ruby can’t decide whether to open her umbrella.

Remember: Weather is what the sky is doing, sunny, rainy, windy or snowy: “The weather is stormy.” Whether means if, when there are two choices: “I don’t know whether to stay or go.” A flea is a tiny jumping bug that lives in an animal’s fur: “The puppy has a flea.” To flee is to run away fast from danger: “The ducks flee from the storm.”
