Millie & Biscuit

Cent, Sent and Scent: The Lemonade Stand

Welcome to the Lemonade Stand! Zoe and Mia squeeze fresh lemons with a lovely lemony scent, they save every cent they earn in a big glass jar, and Lily has just sent a thank-you letter from the mailbox.

Remember: A cent is a tiny amount of money: 100 cents make 1 dollar. “A cup of lemonade costs 50 cents.” Sent is send in the past: “Lily sent a letter to Grandma Bea.” A scent is a smell, usually a nice one: “The lemons have a fresh scent.”

Magic trick: Cent starts with c, like cost: things cost cents. Scent has a silent c after the s, like science and scissors. Sent is the past of send, just like spend and spent, or lend and lent.

Seek and Find
