Dividing by 9: Craft Party
Grab your glitter glue, it’s the Craft Party again, where everything comes in nines! Sticker sheets have 9 stickers and tic-tac-toe boards have 9 squares, so the crafters share their supplies into nines.
Remember: every division fact is a times table fact backwards.
- 27 ÷ 9 = 3 because 3 × 9 = 27
- 45 ÷ 9 = 5 because 5 × 9 = 45
- 63 ÷ 9 = 7 because 7 × 9 = 63
- 72 ÷ 9 = 8 because 8 × 9 = 72
Magic trick: Think multiplication: 54 ÷ 9 asks 9 × what = 54? From 18 to 90, the answer is one more than the first digit: 54 starts with 5, so 54 ÷ 9 = 6.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Craft Party and find:
- ✨ Find the 3 sticker sheets. There are 27 stickers with 9 on each sheet, so 27 ÷ 9 = 3 sheets.
- ⭕ Find the 2 tic-tac-toe boards. 18 squares with 9 on each board: 18 ÷ 9 = 2 boards.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
