Life Cycles: The Butterfly Garden
In the Butterfly Garden a butterfly grows up on the leaves, step by step, and in the little frog pond tadpoles wiggle and frogs sit on lily pads. Mia comes to watch them change.
Remember: A life cycle is the steps an animal goes through as it grows, again and again. Butterfly: egg → caterpillar → chrysalis → butterfly. Frog: egg → tadpole → froglet → frog. Baby butterflies and frogs look nothing like their parents!
Magic trick: Both cycles have 4 steps and both start with an egg. The butterfly changes inside a case; the frog changes in the water.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Butterfly Garden and find:
- 🍃 Find the 4 leaves along the fence. Egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly: the butterfly life cycle in 4 steps.
- 🐸 Find the 2 frogs on lily pads. They started as eggs and tadpoles.
- 💧 Find the 5 tadpoles in the pond. Tadpoles live in water and breathe with gills, just like fish.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
