Body Parts That Help: The Nature Park
Lily is exploring the Nature Park, where tall giraffes nibble the treetops, ducks paddle across the pond and turtles snooze on a log. Every one of them has a body part that helps it live there.
Remember: An adaptation is a body part or a way of acting that helps an animal live in its habitat. Webbed feet help a duck paddle, a long neck helps a giraffe reach high leaves, a hard shell keeps a turtle safe, and colours that match help an animal hide (camouflage).
Magic trick: Ask: “How does this help it?” Every shape, coat and colour is a tool the animal carries with it.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Nature Park and find:
- 🦒 Find the 2 giraffes. Their long necks help them reach the leaves at the top of the trees.
- 🦆 Find the 3 ducks. Their webbed feet work like paddles.
- 🐢 Find the 4 turtles on the log. A hard shell keeps a turtle safe.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
