Adding Angles: The Sprinkle Bakery
At the Sprinkle Bakery, Chef Rosie fits slices of cake together, point to point, with no gaps. When two angles share a side and don’t overlap, the big angle they make together is the two angles added up.
Remember: Angles that share a side add up: a 30° angle next to a 60° angle makes 30° + 60° = 90°. To find a missing part, subtract: if the whole is 90° and one part is 40°, the other part is 90° − 40° = 50°. A whole round cake goes all the way round: 360°.
Magic trick: Angles are like slices of cake: put the slices back together and their angles add up to the angle of the whole piece.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Sprinkle Bakery and find:
- 🎂 Find the whole cakes on their stands. There are 3. A whole round cake goes all the way round: 360°.
- 🍰 Find the cake slices on the yellow tray. There are 6. If 6 equal slices make one whole cake, each tip is 360° ÷ 6 = 60°.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
