Corners and Angles: The Sprinkle Bakery
Welcome to the Sprinkle Bakery! Chef Rosie bakes shortbread triangles, triangle slices of cake and little triangle sandwiches. Every one has 3 sides, 3 corners and 3 angles to look at.
Remember: Every triangle has 3 sides, 3 vertices (corners) and 3 angles. An angle is acute if it is less than 90°, right if it is exactly 90° (a square corner), and obtuse if it is between 90° and 180°. Every triangle has at least 2 acute angles.
Magic trick: To name a triangle by its angles, look at its biggest angle first.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Sprinkle Bakery and find:
- 🍪 Find the shortbread triangles on the mint tray. There are 4, with 3 angles each: 4 × 3 = 12 angles.
- 🍰 Find the 3 slices of cake. Look at the pointy tip of each slice: it’s a small, acute angle.
- 🥫 Find the 2 square tins. Their corners are square corners: right angles.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
