Your, You're, Whose and Who's: The Octopus Tea Party
Octavia the octopus is pouring tea at the Octopus Tea Party! Teacups wait for her guests, cupcakes sit on a stand, and someone has left a sun hat on a chair.
Remember: your means it belongs to you: “This is your cup.” you’re is a short way to say you are: “You’re invited!” whose asks who something belongs to: “Whose hat is this?” who’s is a short way to say who is: “Who’s hungry?”
Magic trick: Try saying you are or who is in the gap. If it makes sense, use the word with the little mark: you’re, who’s. If something belongs to someone, there is no mark: your, whose.
