Day, Night and Seasons: The Globe Garden
In the Globe Garden behind the Star Tower, a big tilted globe stands beside a glowing sun lamp, and four little trees show the four seasons.
Remember: Earth spins around once a day: it is daytime on the side facing the Sun and night on the side facing away. Earth goes around the Sun once a year, about 365 days. Earth is tilted, and that tilt gives us the seasons.
Magic trick: Spin = day, trip = year. One spin makes one day and one night; one trip around the Sun makes one year.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Globe Garden and find:
- 🌳 Find the 4 season trees. Spring, summer, autumn and winter: Earth’s tilt gives us these 4 seasons.
- 🌍 Find the tilted globe. Earth leans like this all year as it goes around the Sun.
- 🏮 Find the 5 lanterns. When our side of Earth turns away from the Sun, it is night and lanterns come on.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
