Divisibility Tricks: The Sprinkle Bakery
Welcome to the Sprinkle Bakery! Chef Rosie packs her treats in boxes of 2, 3, 5 and 10. Before she starts, she uses quick tricks to see if a number will pack with none left over.
Remember: A number can be divided by 2 if it ends in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8; by 5 if it ends in 0 or 5; by 10 if it ends in 0. A number can be divided by 3 if its digits add up to a number in the 3 times table.
Magic trick: For 3, add the digits: 57 → 5 + 7 = 12, and 12 is in the 3 times table, so 57 ÷ 3 works (it’s 19)!
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Sprinkle Bakery and find:
- 🍩 Find the boxes of donuts. 2 boxes of 5 = 10 donuts. 10 ends in 0, so it packs in 2s, 5s or 10s!
- 🍪 Find the plates of cookies. 3 plates of 3 = 9 cookies. 9 is in the 3 times table, so they share onto 3 plates with none left over.
- 🫙 Find the sprinkle jars. Count them: 4 jars, an even number.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
