Deer and Dear, Hare and Hair: The Fairy Garden
Welcome to the Fairy Garden, where giant mushrooms grow and tiny fairies live! Today two gentle deer and three speedy hares have come to visit, and a fairy is brushing her long pink hair by the pond.
Remember: A deer is a gentle forest animal with big ears: “A deer is eating clover.” Dear means loved very much, and it starts a friendly letter: “Dear Grandma Bea.” A hare is an animal like a big rabbit with long ears and long back legs: “The hare hops across the grass.” Hair grows on your head: “Millie ties her hair in pigtails.”
Magic trick: Dear has ear inside it, just like near: someone dear is someone you keep near. Hair has air inside it: your hair blows in the air.
