Across, Then Up: Captain Mia's Treasure Map
Ahoy! On Treasure Beach, Captain Mia has a treasure map with a grid of lines. Instead of naming squares, her map marks points where the lines cross, with two numbers like (3, 5).
Remember: Every grid starts at the bottom-left corner, the point (0, 0), called the origin. In a point like (3, 5), the first number says how far to go across, and the second number says how far to go up. So (3, 5) means 3 across, then 5 up.
Magic trick: Walk along the hall, then up the stairs! Always go across first, then up.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of Treasure Beach and find:
- 💰 Find the treasure chests on the sand. There are 3. On a treasure map, each chest would sit at its own point, like (4, 2).
- 🌴 Find the palm trees. There are 4 along the back of the beach.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
