Challenge, Two-Step Graph Stories: The Star Tower
At the Star Tower, Professor Luna Moon and her telescope club count shooting stars, comets and moons every night, and show their data on graphs. These stories take two steps!
Remember: For a two-step graph story, first read the numbers you need from the graph (use the key or the scale), then solve: add, take away, double or halve.
Magic trick: Write down each number you read from the graph before you start. Then ask: what does the question want, all together, the difference, or a part?
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Star Tower and find:
- ⭐ Find the star bar graph on the easel. The columns have 3, 6 and 2 stars. The middle column is the tallest: 6 is 4 more than 2, and all together there are 11 stars.
- 🔭 Find the telescopes on the grass. Count them: 3 telescopes.
- 🍪 Find the moon cookies. 2 rows of 3 = 6 cookies.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
