Sunflower and Butterfly: The Fairy Garden
Welcome to the Fairy Garden, where Lily is planting seeds! Tall sunflowers grow in a row, butterflies flutter by, and a wheelbarrow holds two flowerpots.
Remember: sun + flower = sunflower, a tall yellow flower that turns to face the sun: “Lily’s sunflower is taller than she is!” butter + fly = butterfly: “A butterfly lands on a leaf.” flower + pot = flowerpot: “Lily plants a seed in a flowerpot.”
Magic trick: A compound word keeps every letter of both small words. Find the two words hiding inside, and the spelling is easy: sun and flower in sunflower, wheel and barrow in wheelbarrow.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Fairy Garden and find:
- 🌻 Find the 3 sunflowers by the fence. sun + flower = sunflower.
- 🦋 Find the 4 butterflies in the air. butter + fly = butterfly.
- 🪴 Find the wheelbarrow with 2 flowerpots. wheel + barrow = wheelbarrow, and flower + pot = flowerpot.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
