Compound Word Challenge: The Octopus Tea Party
Welcome to the Octopus Tea Party, the hardest table of all! Octavia has teacups in a row, a teapot and a plate of cupcakes, and compound words from every world come to tea.
Remember: A compound word joins two small words into one, keeping every letter of both: tea + cup = teacup, ear + ring = earring, rain + fall = rainfall, star + light = starlight.
Magic trick: Look for the two small words hiding inside. Cover one part with your finger: is the part that is left a real word too? Then you have found a compound word.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Octopus Tea Party and find:
- ☕ Find the 4 teacups. tea + cup = teacup.
- 🫖 Find the teapot. tea + pot = teapot.
- 🧁 Find the 6 cupcakes on the plate. cup + cake = cupcake.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
