Split It Up: Octavia's Tea Party
Octavia’s Tea Party is the busiest table under the sea! Octavia gives every guest a tray with 2 packs of 10 cookies and 3 loose cookies: that’s 23 cookies on each tray.
Remember: Split the big number into tens and ones, multiply each part, then add: 23 × 4 = 20 × 4 + 3 × 4 = 80 + 12 = 92.
Magic trick: Tens first, ones second, then add them up. Never forget either part!
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of Octavia’s Tea Party and find:
- 🍪 Find the 4 trays of cookies. Each tray has 2 packs of 10 and 3 loose cookies: 23. So 4 × 23 = 4 × 20 + 4 × 3 = 80 + 12 = 92 cookies.
- 🫖 Find the 6 teapots on the rock shelf. If each teapot pours 12 cups, then 6 × 12 = 6 × 10 + 6 × 2 = 60 + 12 = 72 cups of tea.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
