Sound-Alike Challenge: The Octopus Tea Party
Welcome to the Octopus Tea Party, the hardest table of all! Octavia has blue teacups, pears and flowers, and every pair of sound-alike words comes to tea.
Remember: sea (salty water) and see (look); pair (two that go together) and pear (a fruit); flower (grows, has petals) and flour (for baking); eight (the number 8) and ate (had food); blue (like the sky) and blew (what the wind did); knight (a person in a metal suit) and night (the dark time); hear (with your ears) and here (this place).
Magic trick: Ask what the gap needs: a number, a place, a person, a food, something you do, or something that already happened? Then pick the spelling that goes with that meaning.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Octopus Tea Party and find:
- ☕ Find the 3 blue teacups. Blue, like the sky.
- 🍐 Find the 2 pears on the plate. A pear is a fruit, and 2 pears side by side make a pair of pears!
- 🌸 Find the 4 flowers in the vase. A flower grows; flour is for baking.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
