Missing Numbers: The Garden Party
Mia is throwing a Garden Party, but the wind has blown some numbers off her pattern cards! To put each missing number back, find the jump between the numbers you can see.
Remember: Look at two numbers that sit side by side to find the jump. In 10, 20, ?, 40, the jump is 10, so the missing number is 30. Then check it with the next number: 30 + 10 = 40. ✓
Magic trick: Always check your missing number from both sides: it should be one jump after the number before it and one jump before the number after it.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of the Garden Party and find:
- 🎏 Find the bunting between the trees. Pink, mint, pink, mint… If one flag blew away, you’d know its colour from its neighbours!
- 🏮 Find the paper lanterns. Count them: 4 lanterns.
- 🎂 Find the cakes on the table. There are 3 cakes.
- 🐱 Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
