Making 10 and 100: Farmer Daisy's Farm
Welcome to Farmer Daisy’s farm! Her hens lay brown eggs and white eggs, and the chicks and ducklings follow her everywhere. Farmer Daisy always knows how many more she needs to make 10, because she knows her number bonds.
Remember: Number bonds to 10: 1 + 9, 2 + 8, 3 + 7, 4 + 6, 5 + 5. They help with 100 too: 30 + 70 = 100, just like 3 + 7 = 10. For 64 + 36 = 100, the ones make 10 (4 + 6), so the tens make only 9 (6 + 3).
Magic trick: To make 100, make the ones add up to 10 and the tens add up to 9, because the 10 ones turn into one more ten.
Seek and Find
Look carefully at the picture of Farmer Daisy’s farm and find:
- π₯ Find the 6 brown eggs and the 4 white eggs. 6 + 4 = 10 eggs: 6 and 4 are number bonds to 10!
- π₯ Find the 7 chicks and the 3 ducklings. 7 + 3 = 10 little birds. Another way to make 10!
- π± Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
