Doubles and Near Doubles: The Octopus Tea Party
Down at the Octopus Tea Party, Octavia sets everything out in matching pairs. Doubles are the easiest facts to remember, and they help with near doubles too!
Remember: Doubles: 6 + 6 = 12, 7 + 7 = 14, 25 + 25 = 50. Near doubles are one step away from a double: 6 + 7 is double 6 and 1 more: 12 + 1 = 13. 50 + 49 is double 50 and 1 less: 100 β 1 = 99.
Magic trick: Find the double hiding inside. Double the smaller number, then add the extra 1.
Seek and Find

- π± Millie and her kitten Biscuit are hiding in every picture. Can you spot them?
